When Simone Rocha steps into a new collaboration, she doesn’t adapt to external codes, she expands her own universe. Known for filling her fashion house with pearls, Catholic iconography, and subverted debutante silhouettes, the Irish designer has officially joined forces with Adidas Originals for a long-term partnership that bridges heritage athletic utility with high-fashion romance.
Unveiled during London Fashion Week at Alexandra Palace, the Autumn 2026 collection translates the designer’s personal history, wearing Adidas shorts under school skirts and pairing vintage ballet tutus with three-stripe track jackets, into a masterclass in subcultural style.
The Design Language: Hardcore Femininity Meets the Three Stripes
The collection balances raw sport performance with delicate, hyper-feminine craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from Irish folklore (Tír na nÓg) and Perry Ogden’s iconic 1999 Pony Kids photography:
Reimagined Icons: The classic Firebird top is transformed into a voluminous, cropped silhouette, while the Beckenbauer track jacket features a built-in tulle tutu skirt.
Textural Layering: Tracksuits are paneled with lace and ruffles, football socks are scattered with hand-sewn pearls and crystals, and standard zips feature detachable, washing-machine-friendly pearl tears.
Subtle Branding: Custom broderie anglaise lace conceals miniature Trefoil logos within its embroidered patterns, while satin ribbon wraps the Adidas logo to create a shared emblem.
Flirtatious Footwear: The SR Taekwondo Ballerina is draped in ribbons and pearl studs; the technical SR Climacool becomes a Mary Jane; and the SR Japan Fuzzy Slip On features pony-hair uppers with sculptural, pearl-like three stripes.
The Cultural Context: Youth Rebellion & Practical Utility
For Rocha, bringing her aesthetic into Adidas’s massive ecosystem was an exercise in grounding high fashion. Working extensively within the Adidas archives in Germany, she focused on taking sports functionality, built for athletes and shifting it into a lifestyle space.
“For me, it was important to bring it into a feminine space, but from a perspective in which femininity does not mean something delicate or fragile. It was about bringing the idea of strength, something very grounded and versatile… It’s a kind of hardcore femininity.”

The DFW Perspective: Entering the Adidas Canon
By joining the ranks of Yohji Yamamoto, Raf Simons, and Grace Wales Bonner, Simone Rocha secures her place in a elite lineage of designers who have successfully redefined global sportswear.
For the Digital Fashion Week community, this collaboration represents the ultimate synthesis of subculture and scale. It proves that athletic heritage can be softened without losing its toughness, turning daily activewear into emotional, narrative-driven art.
